A collective sigh of relief - the Reserve Bank to leave interest rates unchanged

THE decision by the Reserve Bank to leave interest rates unchanged has been met with relief by black investors, who have watched their debt-servicing costs rise sharply due to a barrage of rate hikes.

This week, Reserve Bank governor Tito Mboweni held the repo rate steady at 11% amid fears that the economy, which is being crippled by an unprecedented spate of power cuts, may slow down.
