Absa claims top BEE rating

ABSA Group, SA's largest retail bank, said yesterday it had received a top rating for its empowerment credentials.

Analysts said it was a calculated move to fend off a potentially bruising fight with the labour department as the government moved this week to prosecute companies flouting employment equity laws.
