Accounting project a hit among firms

FIRMS are said to be "lining up" to take on trainees following a successful project that has enabled small- and medium-sized accounting firms to participate in transforming the sector, says the finance sector's education and training authority.

The majority of SA's accountants are white males. The accounting profession's Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) charter was signed in Johannesburg last month to address the matter . Its focus is on skills development aimed at increasing the number of black and women chartered accountants (CAs) in SA.
