Anglo's positive shocker

To be granted new order mining rights for all SA operations in platinum, coal, iron ore and base metals by 31 March 2008.

Following years of acrimony and standoffs, Anglo American (AAL LN, £31.41 a share) on Wednesday made the unexpected announcement that all of its South African new order mining rights will be granted by 31 March this year.
