Australia's apology signals the start of reconciliation

Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd took an unprecedented step for a western leader, by apologising to the indigenous people of Australia for past injustices, including the forced removal of mixed-race children from their families.


The watershed and symbolic apology delivered in the Australian parliament was broadcast all over the country.
