BEE codes 'too expensive' to implement say 56% of businesses
SINCE the release of the first phase of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Codes of Good Conduct two years ago, business owners have been divided on whether the policy is really effective in enhancing the competitiveness of their businesses...
This division is clearly indicated in the results of the recently released 2005 Small and Medium (SME) Survey, which showed that 56% of owner-managed businesses believe that BEE does not reduce the costs of running a business.
