BEE deal goes to court

The Department of Public Enterprise's (DPE) dealings with state-owned enterprises (SOE) are being brought into the middle of the biggest legal wrangle over an empowerment deal gone bad.

Lawyers of the Umthunzi Telecoms Consortium, which is led by black economic empowerment mogul Sandile Zungu, have approached the Pretoria High Court to force government and Transnet to hand over a plethora of correspondence which they say will help the consortium prepare for its case against the defendants.
