BEE deal sparks go-ahead for R2,3bn coal mine

A new black-controlled coal company is to build a R2,3-billion coal operation in Mpumalanga that will include the construction of a 12-million-ton-a-year opencast mine...



Mining Weekly Online can today report. The soon-to-be-constructed Goedgevonden coal-mine, which is at the heart of a new coal company created today by Patrice Motsepe's African Rainbow Minerals (Arm) and the London-listed Xstrata plc, will be built, managed and mined by Xstrata Coal South Africa.
