BEE DEALS MARKET - Unworkable right now
The black economic empowerment (BEE) deal market has suffered major setbacks in the past two years and may crash if the financial crisis continues.
About R41bn worth of potential BEE deals has been wiped out due to unfavourable trading conditions in the past two years, according to statistics sourced from BEE rating agency Empowerdex. Last year alone the total value of BEE deals sealed on the JSE declined five fold to R13bn (from R66bn in 2007).
