BEE should be abandoned, Benoni business chamber president avers

Black economic empowerment (BEE) has been a failure, enriching a black "elite", while not filtering down to the poor, argues Benoni Chamber Commerce and Industry president Dr Ngozi Awa.



"BEE was meant to ameliorate a situation of imbalance. However, it has created only 5% elite blacks who are sinfully rich. If BEE is implemented correctly, it will be successful. However, everyone, whether black or white, knows that it is not being implemented correctly," she states.
