BEE will survive, even if sadder, wiser

CONCERN is growing that lower corporate earnings, meagre dividends and equity weakness may soon put some empowerment groupings at risk. Does this raise the spectre of a government bail-out of black economic empowerment (BEE) players?



After all, western governments were quick to bail out their banks because these institutions are essential for economic stability. The same might be said of embattled empowerment companies in SA, as they support a key pillar of official policy and promote a shared future we can all believe in.
