BP renews BEE contract for servicing 585 service stations
BP's pumps in
line for three more years of exceptional
service
BP has renewed its contract with
black-empowerment company, Joint Venture Pump Services (JVPS), to continue servicing the pumps at
its service stations for a further three years.
According to Atwell Mhlongo, BP's
Asset General Manager for Africa,
the reasons for renewing JVPS'
contract were three fold. "Firstly, JVPS complies with our BEE charter and
requirements," he said.
"The second reason is that their
service delivery is exceptional. JVPS have operated above 90 percent of
the agreed service level. They have a good understanding of our business
and go the extra mile. When they are on site, they assist us with
additional areas of our business, for example asset
verification.
"Thirdly, JVPS has a skilled workforce which brings consistency to our business. They understand the network and how everything works together."
Mhlongo says that these three factors are underpinned by the relationships between JVPS and BP personnel. "We have regular meetings to attend to issues and at any time a BP project coordinator can pick up the phone," he says. "JVPS has become an integral part of our business - they're not just performing their duties at arms length."
The company uses advanced
technology to monitor the performance of pumps at BP's 585 service stations,
minimise pump downtime at peak sales periods and manage cashless petrol payment
systems such as BP's FuelMaster solution.
30 technicians perform preventative
maintenance on BP's pumps, and customers experiencing any problems can call the
contact centre manned by knowledgeable and skilled JVPS
staff.
"We are delighted to continue servicing BP," says Brenton Thomas, CEO of JVPS. "Over the past three years, we've developed a deep knowledge of BP's business and forecourt environment. We aim to harness this knowledge to deliver even higher levels of service to BP, and we look forward to many more years of a mutually rewarding relationship."
