Facing the Facts: Labour Broker Research in 2010
During 2010, several important pieces of research appeared regarding the South African labour broking industry. The National Association of Bargaining Councils (NABC) produced an important estimate of the number of labour broker workers in South Africa, the first updated figure since 2006. The NABC suggests that there are 979,539 labour broker workers in SA, compared to the previous estimate of approximately 500,000 labour broker workers. The NABC figures indicate that the labour broking industry is significantly larger than anyone has yet suggested.

dti's move on BEE verification comes under scrutiny
The Association of Black Verification Agencies (Abva) criticised the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) yesterday for allowing public auditors to conduct BBBEE (broad-based black economic empowerment) verifications, saying this approach was short-sighted and would cause damage to its BEE programme.

The matter is in fact going to be referred to the Competition Tribunal by the complainants within the next two weeks. A strategic investment agreement on 26 August 2005 between Khoisan X investment Holdings and InAfrica Safaris of the Waterberg in the Eastern side of Limpopo. Khoisan X representing Khoisan X Investment Holdings and Boer Coetzee representing InAfrica Safaris signed the twofold BEE transaction in the gaming tourism market.
