Millions wasted on shoddy housing construction, Minister avers

The Department of Human Settlements on Monday stated that shoddy construction work, and inferior workmanship on the part of contracted construction companies meant that "money has been wasted", as these houses had to be destroyed.

IDC gives Sheraton Textiles a lifeline

Durban - The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) yesterday took over Sheraton Textiles, formerly known as WM Eachus, a struggling household textile manufacturer. The move, unconditionally approved by the competition tribunal yesterday, will protect 500 jobs.
