JUNIOR miner Central Rand Gold (CRG) said yesterday the Financial Services Board (FSB) had rejected a complaint by its 26% empowerment partner, Puno Gold Investments, that CRG had issued false information to its investors.

Simmers' BEE shareholder taken out of liquidation

There has been much in the press lately regarding the boardroom battles between Simmer and Jack Mines (JSE:SIM) and its BEE shareholder, Vulisango Holdings.  However, another dispute involving Simmers and Vulisango has been playing out in the Port Elizabeth High Court, this one related to JCI (JSE:JCD) Limited and the preference shares JCI (JSE:JCD) has in a company called Xelexwa Investment Holdings, formerly known as Jaganda.

BEE front tyre deal fraudster fined R1m

A local businessman has been fined R1-million after he pleaded guilty to fraud and entered into a plea bargain with the State for setting up a BEE front company that won a controversial R40m tender to supply the City of Cape Town with tyres and tubes for its fleet of vehicles.

Further industrial tariff cuts at WTO would be difficult for SA

Further industrial tariff concessions to unblock the current logjam in the Doha Round of trade talks would be "very difficult" for South Africa to bear, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Wednesday, as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) hinted again to a possible mid-December meeting of ministers, which could be convened to agree modalities.
