Charter has not collapsed, despite missing deadline, says Treasury
The Treasury says the financial services charter (FSC) has not collapsed despite its failure to meet its deadline, which was on March 31, and contrary to media reports.
It said the deadline was in fact much earlier: August 31 2008, and added that the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) issued a statement on that day saying that it would be processing the charter in terms of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act as a sector charter.
