'Do unto others' good for business

A FELLOW by the name of George Marshall was spot-on when he said: "We must stop setting our sights by the lights of each passing ship; instead we must set our course by the stars."
It is clear that BEE has been stuttering along since the mid 1990s, and the implementation of the Broad-Based BEE Act of 2003 has been less than satisfactory. Businesses need to set their course based on sound business principles - real future earnings, cash flows, balance sheets and low gearing will ensure sustainability.
