dti's move on BEE verification comes under scrutiny
The Association of Black Verification Agencies (Abva) criticised the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) yesterday for allowing public auditors to conduct BBBEE (broad-based black economic empowerment) verifications, saying this approach was short-sighted and would cause damage to its BEE programme.
The department recently granted a conditional approval for the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (RBA) and the SA Institute of Professional Accountants (Saipa) to approve registered auditors and accountants to conduct BBBEE verification.
