Event: Procurement BBBEE codes

A workshop dealing with the procurement aspect of the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) codes of good practice is being hosted by Smart Procurement and EES – Siyakha this month.



The BBBEE Codes are before parliament and should be gazetted soon and important new implications arise for the procurement fraternity that will drive purchasing strategy. This will help small business owners to implement BBBEE policies. The event, which will be held on 19 October 2006 at the Peninsula Hotel in Sea Point, Cape Town and on the 25th October 2006 at the Centurion Golf Estate.

A survey conducted by the Blaauwberg and West Coast Chamber of Trade and Industry on the subject of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) amongst small business owners revealed a need for a more thorough understanding on this subject.
The complexities and intricacies often associated with the implementation of BEE codes of practice have made it difficult for small businesses to implement.
Points to be covered in the presentation are include the following:
• Where should you spend your time in getting your procurement spend transformed… quickly?
Certain parts of the spend will get your company points faster than other areas.
• Which areas of spend can be excluded ? Where do you get Bonus Points?
• How will Procurement be evaluated based on the latest codes of good practice?
• How should Suppliers be evaluated in the future?
• Sector charters vs. the scorecard - which will prevail?
