FINANCIAL SECTOR CHARTER - Crisis in FSC council

The financial sector charter (FSC) hangs in the balance after labour and community representatives, who walked out of the FSC council last year, have threatened to stay away permanently.

Their boycott of the council, tasked with finalising the FSC, has meant that the document intended as a guide to the implementation of black economic empowerment (BEE) in the financial sector has been in limbo for several months.
