Food and wine pairing pleases
The necessity for the South African wine industry to grow its local market share has been on the table for a long time. A decade ago, before Generic Codes on the BBBEE were in existence, a BEE group including businessman Joe Chakela, with the help of Distell, purchased a wine farm and commenced the business of grape growing, wine making and selling the finished products.
The finished product, upmarket boutique wines under the Tukulu label, marketed by Cape Legends who also market labels such as Alto, Allesverloren, Hill and Dale, Jacobsdal, Le Bonheur, Lomond, Neethlingshof, Plaisir de Merle and Flat Roof Manor, is very good indeed.
