Freeworld goes slow on planned BEE transaction

Pretoria - Freeworld Coatings, the listed paint and coatings manufacturer unbundled from Barloworld almost a year ago, has adopted a cautious approach to its planned black economic empowerment (BEE) deal because of the global financial crisis.



Andre Lamprecht, Freeworld's chief executive, said yesterday that the company would announce its BEE deal "in the near-term", but there was no guarantee this would be before the end of the year.
