Gauteng transport department invests R7m in BEE

The Gauteng Department of Public Transport, Roads and Works has invested more than R7-billion into broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) and small, medium-sized and microenterprises (SMMEs) over the last three years, which includes the procurement of services and subcontracting.

This is in line with the government policy of supporting emerging contractors through greater access to socioeconomic opportunities. The department is also running a support programme for emerging contractors which have been awarded construction contracts.
