Government seeks pact for growth

THE government is seeking a "broad pact" with business and labour to contain food prices, exorbitant executive pay packages and even the wage increases of lower-earning workers in a bold "solidarity" attempt to dramatically reduce high unemployment levels while boosting growth and equity.



Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel yesterday released details of his long-awaited New Growth Path that the government hopes will ensure the creation of 5 million new jobs by 2020.
