IDC invests in gold and diamonds

Maximising the government's aim for beneficiating South Africa's raw materials, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has been instrumental in facilitating the establishment of a R100 million broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) jewellery manufacturing company in Kimberley.


Gold Chain Technology, which will operate from the Kim Diamond building producing solid and hallow gold and silver chains, fish-hooks, clasps and tags predominantly for export, is a joint venture between Italian-owned Q-Quality International group (51%), BBBEE investment company Solandra Investments(25%) and a Northern Cape community trust (24%).
