Inforcomm welcomes thedti's decision to make it a mandatory requirement for verification agencies to be BEE compliant

Inforcomm welcomes thedti's decision to make it a mandatory requirement for verification agencies to be Level Three BEE compliant before approving their application for accreditation.

'I have been calling for this decision since the accreditation of the first verification agencies in 2009, the decision will go a long way in transforming the accounting profession with the inclusion of registered auditors approved by the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA) into the verification profession, I believe it's a professional integrity that those who check others for compliance are also compliant,' says Tlhoaéle of Inforcomm.

This decision has been long overdue since the accreditation of verification agencies by SANAS started in 2009. Failure to comply within the next 12 months will mean revoking of their licences to be verification agencies

This decision is to make sure that all verification agencies abide by the rules of BEE transformation which they have been verifying businesses to abide by as there are agencies that have been performing verification without meeting any BEE obligations in the past.

It is now the responsibility of every business wanting a BEE-rating certificate to employ the services of verification agencies that are level three compliant or above.
