Look beyond equity in BEE, says Manuel
FINANCE Minister Trevor Manuel said yesterday that efforts to boost black participation in the economy focused too much on selling equity stakes to black investors...
“There is too much focus on equity participation,” Manuel told businessmen at a business breakfast in Johannesburg. “The idea that people can suddenly amass wealth without having added any surplus value can’t be sustainable.”
