Newly-empowered gold-recovery junior eyes SA mining assets

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) - The South African unit of Aim-listed precious-metals junior Goldplat, which unveiled a black economic-empowerment (BEE) deal on Tuesday, is keen to spread its wings beyond its existing gold-from-waste operations in Benoni, on South Africa's East Rand, by acquiring mining prospects that are too small for exploitation by South Africa's gold majors.



Goldplat Recovery CEO Demetri Manolis told Mining Weekly Online in a telephone interview that its transaction with Amabubesi Resources, itself headed by Sango Ntsaluba, created the necessary corporate infrastructure for this strategic transition.
