Novartis to help BEE firms when drug output rises
NOVARTIS would look at developing small local enterprises in the pharmaceutical industry as part of its black economic empowerment (BEE) contribution, but only when drug manufacturing output improved in the country, Glen Sullivan, the chief executive at Novartis South Africa, said yesterday.
Sullivan said the local unit of the Swiss-based drug maker had thus far helped empowerment companies that provided services such as catering, maintenance and security.
