Coal company starts 2008 off on right foot with BEE deal

A COMPANY planning a R300-million coal mine in the north Eastern Cape has its eyes set on making 2008 a milestone year.
Port Elizabeth-based Elitheni Coal has already begun the year with a major empowerment deal that will also give the community at Indwe, near Queenstown, a R9-million stake in the mine, which, it is planned, will eventually provide 1 000 jobs.
