Political strings unravel in BEE deal gone sour

A black economic empowerment (BEE) deal done purely on the strength of the political connections of the empowerment consortium members has backfired on Imuniti Holdings, and now the pharmaceuticals and nutritional food company could soon be looking for a new empowerment partner.

muniti chief executive Paul Fouche stressed yesterday that the bad blood was only between the company's founding members - John Ellis and Jan Louw, who are major shareholders - and the BEE consortium. But he admitted that it was affecting the company.
