R9bn capex programme proceeding smoothly
South Africa’s largest steel producer, Mittal Steel South Africa, says its R9-billion capital-expenditure (capex) programme is proceeding according to plan with the completion of the main water-treatment plant at the corporation’s Vanderbijlpark plant...
Mittal Steel South Africa COO Rick Reato tells Engineering News that the facility, which was com-pleted on track towards the end of last year, is a significant milestone in Mittal Steel South Africa’s investment programme. The facility will ensure a zero effluent release from the plant and will help to reduce the plant’s water usage by 30%.
