Rate hikes up the ante for BEE players

LAST week's 50 basis-point repo rate increase was likely to hit SA's empowerment programme significantly, and empowerment transactions already financed would suffer most immediately, PKF BEE Solutions MD Roger Latchman said yesterday.

PKF BEE Solutions, a subsidiary of the world's fifth-largest accounting firm PKF, said it saw the rate hike having an effect on large transactions.
