RBCT looking at phase 6 expansion, despite rail capacity concerns

The Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) is looking beyond its phase five expansion plan of increasing production to 91-million tons, despite lingering concerns over the ability of State-run Transnet Freight Rail's (TFR's) ability to boost its coal-carrying capacity to the port.

RBCT had employed financial advisor Alexander Forbes Risk Services to do an analysis based in the company's involvement in the phase five expansion project, which will involve an increase in capacity to 91-million tons a year by mid-2009.
