Reminder to businesses on the 31st of January BEE Certificates deadline
Inforcomm would like to remind businesses that the 31st of January 2011 is the expiry date for certificates issued by unaccredited BEE Verification Agencies. Certificates that will remain valid are only those issued by agencies that have been accredited by the South African National Accreditation Systems (SANAS).
This emanates from the announcement made by the dti in August 2009, that allowed certificates issued by unaccredited agencies to stay in the market till the 31st of January 2011, giving verification agencies enough time to go through accreditation. Accreditation ensures that verification agencies conducting BEE ratings are competent, independent and consistent in the manner in which they conduct verification by giving confidence to business that rely on the information contained in BEE certificates to make decisions. Every business needs to understand that any legal entity they choose to use for BEE verification should be an accredited one. "It was just a few years ago when government refused to accept that only accredited verification agencies should issue BEE certificates. And now, to have legislation that only certificates issued by accredited agencies are valid is a victory not just be verification but also for credible empowerment," explains Andile Tlhoaele of Inforcomm. "This means that businesses can use accredited agencies with confidence as the methodologies they use to verify the BEE status of any organisation/company is consistent across the board." Inforcomm is accredited by the South African National Accreditation Systems (SANAS) to certify compliance to the BEE Codes of Good Practice. The company also provides value added BE services such as BEE bid analysis, fronting investigations and compliance reporting. Their mission is enable empowerment. …………………………………………………………………………………………/ENDS
