Robust grilling of Treasury over B-BBEE practices

THE Black Management Forum hosted a broad- based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) review summit in Mdantsane this month . Four and half years after the B-BBEE Act was promulgated, we had to ask ourselves whether we were anywhere close towards achieving the objectives of the act and if not, what were the stumbling blocks.

We had high-level speakers such as Duma Gqubule, an ardent critic of B-BBEE; Jimmy Manyi, a BMF president and chairperson of the Employment Equity Commission; and Nomonde Mesatywa, head of the BEE unit within the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
