Scrapping charters does not mean end of BEE

The view of Enoch Godongwana that "Scrapping charter could have unintended effects" (Guest Column, October 14) carries with it some ambiguity.

The intention of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Codes of Good Practice is to level the playing field for all sectors of the economy. The scrapping of the sector charters is not equal to dumping everything in the dustbin. It involves a serious consideration of an array of factors.
