Southern Africa showing signs of resilience, as Barloworld prepares for difficult '09
JSE-listed diversified industrial group Barloworld warned on Monday that trading conditions had deteriorated as the financial crisis spilled over into the real economy, adding that the outlook for 2009 was uncertain.
However, CEO Clive Thomson stressed that its equipment division in Southern Africa - the group's largest earnings contributor, underpinned principally by the Caterpillar brand - was showing signs of resilience despite the fall in commodity prices.
