Telkom, MTN can't agree on fixed-line sale

Telkom called off talks with MTN yesterday after the companies failed to agree on the sale of Telkom's fixed-line assets to the cellphone network.

Telkom, which has also been in talks about selling its 50percent holding in cellphone giant Vodacom, said it was unable to reach an agreement with MTN on "the combination of certain, or all, of Telkom's fixed-line businesses with MTN".
