Tempest Set to Increase Corporate Business with New Level 2 BBBEE Rating
Johannesburg, 11th October, 2010 - Tempest Car Hire is set to increase its corporate revenues with the announcement that it is the first company in the Imperial Group to achieve a Level 2 BBBEE status, with 125% recognition. This is according to Tempest Car Hire CEO, Leslie Matthews, who says that a focus on upskilling and upscaling employees from within the organisation, with a specific view to filling junior and middle management positions, has helped the company with improving its BEE scorecard.
"The company is also committed to learnerships and believes that exciting future prospects in terms of human capital are significant when a company takes on learnerships in its business," he adds. "Tempest's learnership programme for unemployed graduates, which is currently underway, will see us retaining 50% of these graduates within the organisation."
Matthews continues, "The appointment of a dedicated training manager with a focus on the development of general as well as soft skills and taking our staff through external NQF accredited training has also helped us to meet the company's upskilling goals."
He says that this new accreditation will help ensure that Tempest gets a bigger piece of South African's corporate car rental business. "Our corporate business currently constitutes approximately 45% of our revenues and we see this drastically increasing with this new rating and are looking forward to growing this respective channel," he explains.
"We believe this new rating, together with our low car rental cost structure, will be an attractive offering to the cost conscious corporate market, who are looking to save on travel budgets, particularly in the current economic climate."
He adds that with tenders calling for disclosure of BBBEE status, as it comprises a percentage of scoring in tender adjudication, Tempest is also looking to secure new business coming from the government arena.
