To BEE or not to BEE is the question

The Tshwane Metro Council on Friday told the Pretoria High Court that a top official's insistence that only skilled candidates be appointed to the power supply division is unfair discrimination.

The suspended managing engineer at the council's power switching division, Adrianus Weyers, wrote a letter to the Minister of Labour and to the Engineering Council of SA (Ecsa) in which he complained that seven "unskilled" people had been appointed to work in the power supply division.
