Transnet top-line profits up 9.2 percent
Transport parastatal Transnet on Thursday reported a 9.2 percent increase to R14.4 billion in top-line profits (EBIDTA) for the year ended 31 March 2010 despite the negative impact of the global economic downturn on demand for commodities, containers and freight volumes and an adverse effect of a tariff decision by Nersa.
The state-owned bulk freight transport and logistics company's revenue rose 6 percent to R35.6 billion during the year compared to the prior year.
