Vodacom subscribers up 16%, headline earnings decline
Newly-listed telecommunications group Vodacom had delivered a "solid" set of results for the year ended March 31, 2009, with CEO Pieter Uys noting that it was gratifying that the group had continued to show quality and resilience, despite the global economic downturn.
The group said in a statement on Tuesday that it had added 5,6-million new customers to its customer base in the year, bringing its total customer base to 39,6-million. It had also increased the number of broadband customers to over 720 000.
