What went down at SA Coal?
Faced by a rising wave of challenges, South African miners, from the biggest to the smallest, are finding it tougher going even as the global mining sector leads the recovery in global equity markets.

Global mining stocks may be at best levels in eight months, and leading stock markets higher around the world, but South African miners, from big to small, remain challenged by rising waves of issues, ranging from unpredictable government interventions, to an apparent inability to raise capital appropriate to needs, along with fierce union demands, too many public holidays, and some immodest bureaucrats.
