Transformation requires a pragmatic and realistic approach
The recent debate, and the subsequent coverage in the media, around the removal of employment equity and skills development from the black economic empowerment (BEE) scorecard, is an important one.
This debate comes after the Employment Equity Act has been in place for 10 years. When we look at the history of employment equity, it has done a lot to change the mindset of companies through comprehensive legislation and the subsequent codes of good practice.
